How cycle lanes end in Dublin   June 28th, 2006

This is the end of the cycle lane on the North Wall Quay. Yes it does end abruptly, yes it does dump you down a signficant curb and yes that is one of the busiest roads in Dublin on the left.

Dublin corporation, you should be shot to death with balls of your own shite!

Dumps you on to one of the busiest roads full of trucks…er…lorries. I remember it fondly. I also remember that it wasn’t very long at all, as bike routes go.

Ah, yes, I forgot you sojourned across the road for a summer or so. Well if it ran the whole length of the quays on that side it might possibly be the longest continous cycleway in Dublin, not that Dublin Corporation was ever going to let that happen.

Funny how they don’t stop the roads when they hit a bridge, but that seems perfectly fine for bikes.
