Pix.ie : One To Watch

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Work has delayed my Tuesday Push post so big apologies Marcus. Marcus MacInnes is one of the true vanguards of Web 2.0 and is beating the Americans at their own game with a most excellent photo sharing site, pix.ie.

From its very impressive multi-file uploader that is baked into the browser interface, to the super slick and stylish user interface, pix.ie just smacks of professionalism all over.

A top notch place to keep your photographs,  Rock on Marcus.

The Irish Blog Awards 2008 - The Aftermath

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Great night, great crowd, A whole hearted success and our congratulations go out Damien for another cracking night. Maman Poulet has produced a beautiful page of the winners that far exceeds my humble HTML skills so swing over there for the authoritative list.

This was the year when the real world took over from the geeks with people like GrannyMar and HeadRambles sweeping all before them. In fact the only techno geek to feature was Robin Blandford under the best technology blog moniker for his ByteSurgery blog.

Myself and Pat Phelan raced each other to get the results out on twitter and live blogged them (feeling a little quaint all the while!). I think the organisers might do this themselves in the future with prepared post that reveals itself as the annoucements are made. I was trying to type and chase links while the same time failing horribly to work out the name of the best irish blog.

There is a tagged record of the night in pictures on pix.ie.

A top night, my congratulations to all the winners!

TechLudd: Great Night

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Fantastic night last night at the inaugural TechLudd, big crowd turned up (I’m never good at these estimates, but my guess is at least 70 100 people) Microsoft paid for the beer (big shout out there, thanks Clare and Martha) and Ireland’s current crop of Entrepreneurs provided the entertainment and conversation. Marcus took a bunch of snaps which are now up on pix.ie.

Full marks to Anton and Sabrina for doing all the heavy lifting. Looking forward to the next one already…
