Tablegen – Generate clean HTML for tables

Check out this HTML table generator from Blended Technologies. I’ve struggled with the problem of inserting tables into WordPress recently and these seems to solve the problem perfectly. It’s a webpage where you populate a table of data and then click a button to generate super clean HTML that can be pasted into your wordpress editor window.

Excellent Interview with Tim Berners Lee

Via slashdot, you shuld read this excellent interview with Tim Berners Lee. One quote struck a chord with me from my time working at Oracle,

At the moment a lot of company knowledge is held on spreadsheets and
Powerpoint slides, because companies need to see summaries. But the
data has lost its semantics, so it’s not usable

Final Verdict on Qumana

I’ve been using Qumana for the past few days to do the post. Mainly I’ve been writing up the Web 2.0 Conference many people attended last week. Well I just spent an hour doing the final entry and qumana just lost all that work. As I pasted in the last section of notes the screen went ‘funny’ and that was it all edits scrapped. Looks like it might be a cut and paste bug.

A nice tool, but not quite ready for prime time. It is beta-software so I’ll give it a another shot when it exits beta.

Check out where you land after clicking the RSS link on the DigitalTrends website. A nightmare page of fifty or more feeds, with no single aggregator for the whole lot.

Try not to do the most stupid thing guys..

Mr Samba exposes Microsoft during EU Anti-Trust Hearing

“It’s not certain Samba will benefit, but the IT industry as a whole will," Tridgell said in the interview. "That’s why this case is seminal for the IT industry. The interoperability the Commission is demanding from Microsoft will allow the industry to return to the sort of cooperation that existed in the 1990s, he said. “Cooperation is the norm."

Good article on Internet fraud for companies selling software on the Internet

Richard Rogers writes a great article on the use of stolen credit cards on the net and the problems of fraudulent purchases for software suppliers on the InterWebNet (sic).

Trying out Qumana offline blog posting client

I’ve used Qumana, a free blog posting client that works offline and integrates nicely with WordPress. So far only one nice-to-have feature missing, a button to "view your blog" once you have published a post.

Why I picked Bank of Ireland as my business bank

Two reasons Bank of Ireland beat out AIB, my existing bank as my choice of business bank for Secantus.

  1. Two years free banking
  2. I can email my banker

Even now I still find it quite shocking that nobody are Ireland’s none of the customer facing staff at AIB have email addresses.
