1.1m Broadband Users in Ireland

According to the latest COMREG report there are 1.1m 697,700 broadband users in Ireland (pg 20) out of a total irish population of 4m.

    That figure is ‘total internet subscriptions’ – it include 402,300 ‘narrowband’ users. I still don’t even believe we have 697,700 broadband subscribers in this country. I presume they counting are counting both commercial as well as residential (not very clever, or meaningful)?

    Also worth noting that their definition of broadband is ‘in excess of 144k’. This definition is, of course, completely out of whack with international definitions of broadband. But hey, we’re a small country so I guess our broadband is also smaller than everyone elses…
